About Me
I used to compete for the United States as a Diver, specializing in 1-meter, 3-meter, and 10-meter platform events. I spent countless hours starting in middle school until I was 17 years old training at the pool, pushing my body and mind to the limit in pursuit of international medals and dreams of an Olympic Games. I represented my country with pride and I truly loved it. However, I faced a painful reality at 15 years old. After years of dedication in the water, I found myself no longer walking on the pool deck to train, but into a courtroom to face the abuse I endured at the hands of my Diving Coach.
Legal Let Down
My personal experience being an elite level athlete stopped in the court room. at 16 years old, I was faced with backlash, criticism, judgement and I saw how cruel and evil people can be. I saw a legal system allow a convicted child abuser have more rights than a victim. I endured years of him grooming a community to see him as a victim. I saw a family...a mother support him, protect him and shield him from his consequences and years of abusing underage girls and athletes.
I saw the legal system allow him to not reside next to schools, parks or daycares but live with 4 non-biological children in a community he already offended in. I learned these styles of re-offending is far more common than people know.
Its dangerous. Its sickening. It's a loophole predators have found.
11 years later
It took me 11 years to finally have the courage to enact changes based on the legal let downs, the public criticism and the fears I went through. I am no longer afraid to try and further help and protect kids, not monsters and finally....tell my story.
